A book project that delves extensively into how EU policy is made, shaped, and implemented by actors within the EU, as well as in the various member states. To begin with, the book will introduce policymaking through a comprehensible step-by-step process. It explains why some policy measures are more successful than others and critically and accessibly discusses the evolving way in which policy is formed in the EU. To achieve this, the book adopts the perspective of citizens – including students – as its starting point. Furthermore, empirical examples are used to demonstrate how policy plays out in practice: this includes complex political puzzles or policy-related issues, providing students with a practical introduction to how they can make policy. The text offers both a conceptual and practical understanding of this complex field. The target audience of this textbook is advanced undergraduate and master's students.
