Local and climate neutral: Leiden Leadership Centre for a green The Hague
Leiden Leadership Centre (LLC) takes part in the Enabling City Transformation Programme. Together with the municipality of The Hague and other local partners, LLC will focus on engaging residents and communities in shaping climate-neutral solutions.
The 18-month EU-funded programme is managed by NetZeroCities. The Hague is one of the 48 European cities joining the programme. The LLC is working on replicable, scalable interventions that tackle major implementation challenges for local climate action. This programme helps to empower communities, strengthen citizen participation, and create a city-wide movement toward sustainability.

The LLC contributes to two lines of research and interventions on the role of leadership in achieving climate goals. The first line concerns the contribution of leadership efforts by and within the city to engage the full diversity of the population in The Hague in making climate efforts. For this, the LLC closely collaborates with other members of the Global Leadership Centres Roundtable studying the effects of leadership on citizen engagement in sustainability in other European cities.
The second line of research directly supports the cooperation and leadership with stakeholders engaged with the 38 climate deals within the The Hague Climate Agreement. The LLC will utilise its expertise in network leadership and a newly developed serious game.
