Jan Vleggeert appointed Professor Tax Law and Economics
Jan Vleggeert is a tax specialist with an independent and critical voice in the debate on tax avoidance by multinationals. His appointment commenced on 1 October 2019.
Jan Vleggeert, born in 1961, graduated from Leiden University with a degree in Tax Law. He obtained his doctorate in Leiden in 2009 on a dissertation that dealt with the limits to the deduction of interest in international tax law (Aftrekbeperkingen van de rente in het internationale belastingrecht) Following a career of 25 years as a tax advisor and corporate tax consultant, in 2011 he made the switch to academia. From his position outside the commercial world of taxation, he is able to add an independent and critical voice to the debate on tax avoidance by multinationals.
Jan Vleggeert is appointed full-time at the Department of Tax Law.
