Inauguration of Young Academy Leiden
The inauguration of the first members of the Young Academy Leiden (YAL) was held on Wednesday 20 March in the Lorentz Lecture Hall of the Kamerlingh Onnes Building at Leiden Law School.
The ceremony was opened by Rector Magnificus Carel Stolker. Quentin Bourgeois then proceeded to address the members of YAL on behalf of the founding committee. As YAL chairman, Tom Louwerse then addressed the public. To conclude, the logo of YAL was revealed by Vice-Rector Hester Bijl.
Helen Pluut and Olaf van Vliet were selected to join YAL from Leiden Law School. Helen is also YAL’s Vice-Chairman. At the drinks reception following the inauguration, she was congratulated by her colleagues from the Department of Business Studies who presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
One week before, Helen, Olaf and a few other members of YAL had the honour to join the Rector Magnificus at his table during the annual Pieterskerk gala.
