‘Anna's entry was catchy and quick and she showed a lot of student life and the city,' was the response by jury member Martijn Bulthuis, director of van Leiden Marketing. ‘As well as showing the city of Leiden, she also showed the beaches nearby and the surrounding area. We felt that was an absolute plus, particularly for international students. Of course, our aim is to inspire prospective students to look at the city and the region when making their choice about where to study.'
Hester Bijl
Hester Bijl, Vice-Rector Magnificus, represented Leiden University in the jury. The jury members, who were also assisted by two high school pupils, had no easy job deciding on the winner. There were more entries than in previous years and the quality of the films was also very high. After much debate, Anna, from Manchester and a student of anthropology, was declared the winner.
First prize
First prize was a sum of 1,500 euros. The second prize went to students Ward Zeijl and Dahran Çoban, and third prize to Pepe van de Kerkhof.
