In the summer of 2017, Merijn Tinga, the Plastic Soup Surfer, paddled down the Rhine in 28 days. He wanted to raise awareness on the plastic litter and its sources. On a sub board composted of recycled plastic he found himself sometimes in harsh circumstances: rain, wind and strong current made the journey quite a personal challenge as well. The Plastic Soup Surfer also collected litter along the shores to provide evidence to the producers of plastic products and packaging. He will now send the chief executives of these companies a formal notice to confront them with the pollution their products cause.
