Dutch newspaper Trouw pays attention to the EU proposals regarding the regulation of microplastics in an article on 11 September 2018. The EU parliament adopted a report of its Environmental Committee which urges the Commission to establish a ban on microplastics in cosmetic products, detergents and cleaning products, among other legislative proposals to curb plastic pollution.
