About us
Leiden University Centre for Linguistics (LUCL) is a reputable institute in the field of linguistics, offering excellent research and education opportunities covering a broad range of languages of the world.
Our mission at LUCL is to study linguistic variation and diversity from various theoretical perspectives, in a wide range of languages, in past and present. Our scientific aim is to contribute to a better understanding of language as a cognitive, social, and cultural phenomenon. Open Science is at the heart of our activities. We encourage the interaction of data-driven and theory-driven linguistic research and consider an interdisciplinary approach to linguistic phenomena a crucial aspect in furthering knowledge in this field.
At LUCL we seek to maintain an inspiring and inclusive environment, providing academics with plenty of opportunities for collaboration and engagement.
