Sustainable buildings
During the development of the Humanities Campus, many aspects of sustainability are combined. For example:
- Having a sustainable building process by using environmentally friendly and sustainable materials, as well as reusing building materials as much as possible;
- Wherever possible: placing solar panels and green roofs on the buildings;
- Water-saving taps;
- Waste sorting;
- Saving energy by using LED lamps;
- Having a sustainable energy supply through thermal storage.
The possibilities regarding sustainability are different for every building: a historical monument presents different opportunities than a renovation project or a new construction. More information on the sustainable measures that are applied to every building on the campus can be found at the subproject pages. For example, see 'How to make a monument more sustainable' under the subproject Arsenaal or read about how we make Cluster Zuid a sustainable building.
