Education

Our research group provides a diverse range of educational opportunities that combine theoretical foundations with practical applications in intelligence and security.

Our group teaches a range of theory and practice oriented courses at undergraduate level, including a Minor in Intelligence Studies, as well as a specialised track on Intelligence and National Security to Master’s students in Crisis and Security Management. 

  • Minor Intelligence Studies (Bachelor-level)
    This minor focuses on the structure, methods, and analysis techniques of intelligence and security agencies in the Western world. Topics include cyber intelligence, Cold War spy cases, intelligence failures, and the role of intelligence services in democratic societies. Guest lecturers with professional experience provide practical insights into the field.

  • MSc Crisis and Security Management - Intelligence and National Security
    This specialisation within the Master’s in Crisis and Security Management examines the role of intelligence in addressing contemporary security challenges. It covers topics such as intelligence processes, oversight mechanisms, and the balance between security and civil liberties. The programme also explores the interaction between intelligence agencies and national security policies in democratic systems.

Doctoral research and rrofessional insights

Our group also host doctoral researchers developing projects on contemporary intelligence and security challenges. We have extensive experience delivering research-based insights to practitioners working in governments and beyond.
