Series
CWTS Research Seminars
At CWTS we have a long tradition of organizing a weekly research seminar in which speakers present their research in the area of science studies and discuss their work with the audience. The seminar normally takes place on Friday, 15.00-16.15h (CET/CEST). Presentations are given in English.
About the CWTS Research Seminar
- Inclusive hybrid format: In order to be as inclusive as possible, the CWTS seminar has a hybrid format, enabling anyone to join without the need to travel. Speakers may either give a live presentation at CWTS or may present virtually by joining us remotely.
- Open to all: The CWTS seminar is open to anyone with an interest in science studies research. There’s no need to register. You can join virtually using the MS Teams link provided in the announcement of each seminar, or physically by joining us in the common rooms at CWTS in Leiden.
- Broad scope: The CWTS seminar has a broad topical scope. Any topic in the domain of science studies research is likely to fit within the scope of our seminar. We aim to cover a broad range of topics. If you’re in doubt whether a specific topic is suitable for the seminar, please reach out to us so that we can discuss.
- Diversity of speakers: The CWTS seminar aims to have a diversity of speakers: Junior and senior researchers, researchers from different traditions in science studies research, researchers doing more basic and more applied work, researchers from CWTS and from elsewhere, etc. We’re also open to different formats, for instance having multiple shorter presentations by different speakers instead of a longer presentation by a single speaker, or having a more interactive format aimed at stimulating engaging discussions.
- Opportunity to meet informally: In addition to offering a forum for sharing and discussing scientific work, the CWTS seminar provides an opportunity for CWTS colleagues, speakers, and visitors to meet each other informally. Everyone who is physically attending the seminar is invited to join us for drinks afterwards.
