On Monday 2 September 2024, the Faculty of Science will officially open the doors of the new Gorlaeus Building! With an extra lab wing, new lecture halls and offices, a library, a brasserie and offices for study associations, this building offers an inspiring environment for research, study and meeting.
With the expansion of the Gorlaeus Building, Leiden University has made a strong commitment to innovation and connection and to science education and research in the heart of the Leiden Bio Science Park. We are very proud of our beautiful new environment: it is the place where you would like to work and study as a (future) beta scientist.
Programme
The opening programme consists of two parts; we start with a plenary opening programme in a talk show setting with various guests. The programme will be continued by a spectacular opening ceremony.

| 11.30 - 12.00 hrs | Opening ceremony by our students, Jasper Knoester (Dean of the Faculty of Science), Annetje Ottow (President of the Executive Board of Leiden University) and Constantijn van Oranje (Special Envoy Techleap) |
| From 12.30 hrs | Explore the new building and discover various highlights such as the library, high-tech research facilities, the Einstein Fountain and more! |
