Criminal Law and Criminology is is a specialisation of the master’s programme Rechtsgeleerdheid (Law) at the renowned Leiden Law School of Leiden University.

This specialisation trains you to become a versatile and critical legal expert, providing you - besides the general knowledge and skills that all legal experts require - with the baggage you will need in criminal law practice. In this programme you will not only acquire knowledge of criminal law in all its facets, but you will also lay a solid foundation under that knowledge. Criminal law is studied in relation to the principles of the criminal law system and placed in the context of the legal political surroundings in which the system functions and which continually influence it. Much attention is therefore paid to the shifting legal and social context in which the criminal law system operates.
