"The MIRD programme is intensive and challenging, but also very rewarding. It manages to find a good balance between theory and practice."

“As a graduate, I feel that I do not only have a thorough understanding of IR as an academic study, but also its application in today’s international politics. The involvement of the Clingendael Institute has been particularly helpful in this regard, as it provides a direct link to practitioners, who do not only manage to inspire by sharing their experience in the field, but also help by sharing their vast network. This last point ties directly to the greatest asset of the MIRD programme: its ability to give you a running start in a highly competitive job market. The faculty’s focus, from day one, is on making you aware of the ways in which you can develop toward a career in your chosen field. Aside from the lecturers, there is staff dedicated to helping you find an internship and supporting you however they can in order to ensure you leave the program with practical experience. Personally, it was this experience that helped me find my own passion within IR, namely international negotiation and mediation.”
