The Astronomy and Science Communication and Society programme trains you in practical and theoretical aspects of science communication alongside high quality astronomical research at a world class institute.
Programme outline
The entire MSc programme in combination with the Science Communication and Society (SCS) specialisation consists of two components:
- Astronomy component (60 – 80 EC)
- Science Communication and Society component (40 – 60 EC)
The astronomy component of the SCS specialisation centers on a research project in one of the research groups of the Leiden Observatory, including a Master's thesis and an oral presentation, as well as courses selected in correspondence with the research topic. This may include non-astronomy courses. The science communication component of the specialisation includes coursework, internship(s) and a science communication research project.
Preferably, you follow the Astronomy component during the first year of the programme and the Science Communication and Society component during the second year.
