Cybersecurity & Cybercrime (BSc)
Since 2022, a higher proportion of people in the Netherlands have been victims of cybercrime than of 'traditional' crime. The Bachelor in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime trains you to become an all-round cyber expert, equipping you to take on the fight against cybercrime.
Why study Cybersecurity & Cybercrime?
At present, there are no academic programmes at the bachelor's level in the Netherlands focused on cybersecurity or cybercrime. This degree fills that gap, as there is a significant demand for professionals in the field of cybercrime and cybersecurity.
The vulnerability of the digital world has many facets. Cyberspace is relatively new, and developments are progressing rapidly. The challenges surrounding digital security are constantly evolving, and the interests of citizens, businesses, and governments on this issue are not always aligned. Improving cybersecurity and combating cybercrime takes place within an ongoing cycle of attack and defence.
Why Study Cybersecurity & Cybercrime at Leiden University?
In September 2025, Leiden University will launch a new Dutch-taught bachelor's programme in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime at its campus in The Hague.
Leiden University is uniquely positioned to develop and offer this bachelor's programme. For years, scientists from the three collaborating faculties have been working, both independently and together, on the topics of cybersecurity and cybercrime, each from their own discipline. Computer scientists, legal scholars, criminologists, and public administration experts have earned (inter)national recognition for their research and teaching in this field over recent years.
In this new Bachelor’s programme in Cybersecurity & Cybercrime, starting in September 2025, their combined knowledge and expertise will be brought together – and you can benefit from it.
