Sustainable Development
Admission & Application
Limited number of places
Every minor has a limited number of places. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis (with the exception of TU Delft and Erasmus minors with admission requirements*). So apply on time.
Reserved spots for LDE-students
Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam collaborate closely on a range of educational matters, thus making it easy to follow a minor at TU Delft or the Erasmus University. During the application period for Leiden students TU Delft and the Erasmus University reserve a third of their minor places for Leiden University students.
Maximum of one minor
You may only apply for one minor with admission requirements. You may only apply for one TUD/EUR/LDE minor. If you are placed on a waiting list, you may apply for another Leiden minor (without admission requirements). Please note: you can only follow one minor. Are you placed on two waiting lists? Deregister from one of the two minors and apply for a different one.
For questions about applying, contact 071 – 527 1111 or studielijn@leidenuniv.nl.

When and how can you sign up?
Whether you are a language or chemistry student, a biologist or a cultural anthropologist, the minor Sustainable Development is open and of interest to third year bachelor students from all degree programmes.
Registration
For students of Leiden University registration is possible from 15 May (13.00) until 4 July.
Registration for an elective (half minor) of 15 EC
For students who do not have the full 30 ECTS available, we have a few spots available for the ‘Sustainable Development: Big Issues New Answers’ course. If you are interested in joining the half minor, please reach out to minor@cml.leidenuniv.nl. You may need permission from the Board of Examiners of your degree programme to follow the course as an elective.
Other Students
In principle, the minor is also open to students of other universities and universities of applied science (HBO), provided that they are highly motivated to do so and show great commitment. Participants will be selected on the basis of a letter of motivation and order of registration. Please see this website for more information.
You can send your motivation letter via minor@cml.leidenuniv.nl before 31 May 2024.
We will let you know if you are accepted between May and June. Please make sure to also have a ‘plan B’, since we only have a limited number of available spots for guest students.
You can also register your interest. We will then keep you informed of developments regarding the minor programme through a newsletter.
