When and how can you sign up?
Accessibility
The minor is open to students with a keen interest in mathematical modeling and life science. Affinity with mathematics is desirable. Knowledge of mathematics at the level of VWO Eindexamen Wiskunde B is required. The course starts with lectures designed to clear deficiencies in mathematics and biology. In the admission procedure one aims at a good balance between students from life science and mathematically oriented studies. Students can be invited to an initial interview with the coordinator of the minor and may be asked to study selected parts of textbooks before the start of the minor.
Registration
Students of LDE
Students from Leiden University, Technical University Delft and Erasmus University (LDE) will all register through the new EduXchange platform. The registration opens on May 8 2023, at 13:00. Students from TU Delft and Erasmus University can register until May 31, students from Leiden University can apply until July 15.
Other students
Students from other universities can send an email to dr. S.C. Hille.
Shortly after closure of registration in EduXchange on 15 July you will receive by email a confirmation from the coordinator of the minor of your registration. With this confirmation you can participate in the minor.
Number of participants: minimum is 4 students, maximum 20 for the full-time program.
Limited number of places
Every minor has a limited number of places. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis (with the exception of TU Delft and Erasmus minors with admission requirements*). So apply on time.
Reserved spots for LDE-students
Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam collaborate closely on a range of educational matters, thus making it easy to follow a minor at TU Delft or the Erasmus University. During the application period for Leiden students TU Delft and the Erasmus University reserve a third of their minor places for Leiden University students.
Maximum of one minor
You may only apply for one minor with admission requirements. You may only apply for one TUD/EUR/LDE minor. If you are placed on a waiting list, you may apply for another Leiden minor (without admission requirements). Please note: you can only follow one minor. Are you placed on two waiting lists? Deregister from one of the two minors and apply for a different one.
For questions about applying, contact 071 – 527 1111 or studielijn@leidenuniv.nl.
