* A minor with admission requirements is a minor with a different selection procedure. You can check which minors have admission requirements in the Studiegids or on the website of TU Delft and Erasmus.
An overview with all relevant information about the minors can be found on this website.

Limited number of places

Every minor has a limited number of places. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis (with the exception of TU Delft and Erasmus minors with admission requirements*). So apply on time.

Reserved spots for LDE-students

Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam collaborate closely on a range of educational matters, thus making it easy to follow a minor at TU Delft or the Erasmus University. During the application period for Leiden students TU Delft and the Erasmus University reserve a third of their minor places for Leiden University students.

Maximum of one minor

You may only apply for one minor with admission requirements. You may only apply for one TUD/EUR/LDE minor. If you are placed on a waiting list, you may apply for another Leiden minor (without admission requirements). Please note: you can only follow one minor. Are you placed on two waiting lists? Deregister from one of the two minors and apply for a different one.

For questions about applying, contact 071 – 527 1111 or studielijn@leidenuniv.nl.

Application Process

Steps to take
Students of Leiden University, TU Delft and Erasmus University have to apply via EduXchange.

External students (from research universities as well as universities of applied sciences) can apply for just one of the Leiden minors. This is not done through eduXchange, but through the procedure described here.

When and how can you sign up?

Admission requirements
Admission criteria apply to this selection Minor (see Appendix 2 of the Education and Exam regulation BSc Programmes (OER)). It is only accessible to students in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Science & Technology and Molecular Science & Technology who have successfully completed the course ‘Organic Chemistry 2’, or an equivalent course and two (bio)chemical practical courses of at least 3 EC each. In addition, they must evidently have sufficient knowlegde in the area of biochemistry/-pharmacy; students may be invited for an interview with the Minor coordinator. Students may be asked to study selected parts of text books before the start of the Minor.

This Minor consists of integrated courses and is meant to deepen the insight into drug discovery and development. The programme cannot be split into two parts of 15 EC and courses cannot be taken separately as an elective course.

Minimum/maximum capacity: 10/40. Since the number of students in laboratory courses is limited, the maximum number of students in this minor is strictly limited to 40.

Registration
This is a selection minor with early registration deadlines: from April 3 (13:00) to April 16 (13:00).

All students will remain on a waiting list until final placement. For TUD/EUR students a maximum of 7 places per university are available in the minor MDD.

All students outside Leiden University, TUD or EUR should always apply via the Minor Coordinator.
