Admission & Application
Limited number of places
Every minor has a limited number of places. These are allocated on a first come, first served basis (with the exception of TU Delft and Erasmus minors with admission requirements*). So apply on time.
Reserved spots for LDE-students
Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam collaborate closely on a range of educational matters, thus making it easy to follow a minor at Leiden University, TU Delft or the Erasmus University. During the application period, Leiden University reserves one third of their minor places for TU Delft and Erasmus University students.
Maximum of one minor
You may only apply for one minor with admission requirements. You may only apply for one TUD/EUR/LDE minor. If you are placed on a waiting list, you may apply for another Leiden minor (without admission requirements). Please note: you can only follow one minor. Are you placed on two waiting lists? Deregister from one of the two minors and apply for a different one.
For questions about applying, contact 071 – 527 1111 or studielijn@leidenuniv.nl.
Application Process
Steps to take
Students of Leiden University, TU Delft and Erasmus University have to apply via EduXchange.
- Read more information about the application process
- Create an eduID
- Register for your minor via eduXchange
External students (from research universities as well as universities of applied sciences) can apply for just one of the Leiden minors. This is not done through eduXchange, but through the procedure described here.
When and how can you sign up?
Admission criteria apply to this Minor (see Appendix 3 of the Education and Exam regulation BSc Programmes (OER). The minor is accessible to all students, but the emphasis on biological and medical topics requires a quick understanding of molecular genetics, physiology and epidemiology. An online test is available to give interested students an idea of the topics in some of the courses . The aim is an equal mix of biology, archaeology and medicine students. All other students may be interviewed to evaluate their motivation.
For more information on when and how to sign up, please look at the E Prospectus.
