Yun Shao is mainly interested in Molecular Ecology, her research topic is using environmental DNA to map and link amphibian pathogens to aquatic ecosystem health.
Professional experience
Yun Shao received her undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from Shanghai University in 2021. In 2024, she received her MSc in environmental science from Shanghai Ocean University. During her master's period, Yun Shao used both the traditional and eDNA methods to monitor fish in a complex river-lake system and compared the two sampling media of eDNA. Her thesis described the spatial distribution characters of eukaryotic phytoplankton by the eDNA method and further explored the community assembly mechanisms by the niche model and null model.
Yun Shao started as a PhD candidate at the Environmental Biology Department of CML in October 2022. She aims to assess the spatial and temporal spread of the amphibian chytrid fungi and associated host population dynamics.
