About
Youri Cremers joined the Institute of Private Law, Department of Civil Law, of the Faculty of Law as a PhD Fellow in September 2023. He studied law in Maastricht (LLB), Leiden (LLM) and Oxford (MJur). During his studies, he was, inter alia, an editor of Ars Aequi and the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal. His PhD research concerns the security rights of pledge ('pand'), mortgage ('hypotheek') and surety ('borgtocht'), and queries whether Dutch law requires that the person holding such rights also be the creditor of the secured obligation ('Gläubigeridentität'). His interests lie, principally, in property law, family property law and Roman law.
