Yasmin Ismail is a researcher and Project Manager on the |0100| Project on Artificial Intelligence and futures in Southeast Asian Islam. As part of her research role she will be exploring best practices in utilizing digital technologies such as social media within academia, and innovative ways of research dissemination in Anthropology and the social sciences more generally.
Yasmin holds an MA in Islamic Studies (University of Exeter 2011) and an Mres in Middle East Studies (Leiden University, 2018). She is currently in the final stages of her PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies (BGSMCS) and FU-Berlin. Her research addresses translocal linguistic and ideological entanglements arising from the use of English-language Islamic curricula within Quranic schools in the minority settings of the UK, Zambia and South Africa.
Currently she is working as part of the |0100| Project as Project Manager, and researcher where she will explore the best practices in utilizing digital technologies such as social media within academia, and innovative ways of research dissemination. This includes working on developing a podcast with LUCIS that aims to connect academia and wider society.
