Wouter Wagemakers is a specialist in Italian renaissance art and architecture, and lecturer at the Centre for the Arts in Society. At Leiden University, he teaches a survey course on European renaissance art and architecture, 1300-1550; and co-teaches seminars about Rome, the Global Renaissance, and academic skills. He supervises bachelor theses about renaissance art and architecture, and is also internship coordinator for students of Art History and Arts, Media, and Society.

Research
Wouter Wagemakers is a specialist in fifteenth- and sixteenth-century Italian art and architecture, and he is currently writing a monograph on architect Michele Sanmicheli (1487/8-1559) and his patrons in Verona. His research interests focus on the nexus between architecture, politics, and religion in times of societal upheaval.
