Timothy started as a PhD researcher at the Industrial Ecology department of CML in September 2024, and is focusing on infrastructure dynamics and sustainability.
Professional experience
Timothy received his BEng degree in Chemical Engineering in 2022 at the University of Manchester. In 2024, he graduated from the MSc Industrial Ecology program at Leiden University and TU Delft. He wrote his thesis on the valuation of renewable energy resources as economic assets. His thesis was conducted simultaneously with an internship at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), where his research on renewable energy assets contributed to the Natural Capital Compilation Guide for the 2025 System of National Accounts.
Research topic
Timothy’s research aims to unravel the dynamics and sustainability of infrastructure. His research will link infrastructure production, asset stock, service needs and investments to model future infrastructure dynamics and help guide infrastructure development and policymaking. His research involves using input-output analysis, and econometrics to understand infrastructure supply chains and investment as well as using material-flow analysis and life-cycle assessment to determine infrastructure’s environmental impacts.
