Thomas Willems is a PhD candidate at the Department of Clinical Psychology and his research focuses on the mechanisms and treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Specifically, the aim of his PhD-project is to reduce the gap between experimental research that is done in the laboratory, and how PTSD is treated in clinical practice. This is done by starting in clinical practice and taking this knowledge to the lab, using various techniques, such as qualitative interviewing, meta-analyses, and experimental studies. The PhD project is funded by the starter grand of co-promotor Dr. Linda de Voogd, and co-supervised by co-promotor Dr. Rianne de Kleine, promotor Prof. Dr. Maartje Schoorl and promotor Prof. Dr. Bernet Elzinga.
