Brief biography
I obtained my Bachelor (Biologie) and Master’s degree (Molecular Genetics & Biotechnology) at Leiden University. In my Bachelor’s project, I screened a Streptomyces library for antimicrobial volatile compounds.
My first Master’s project focused on activating Biosynthetic Gene Clusters through chemical communications between marine Streptomyces (part of the European MARBLES project). I pursued my second project at TNO, where I investigated the mode of action of natural antifungals against the opportunistic fungus Candida albicans.
I am currently pursuing my PhD at a shared position between Leiden University and the Microbiology & Systems Biology department of TNO.
