I completed my BSc. and MSc. in Biotechnology at Wageningen University & Research, where I developed a foundation in molecular and immunological research. During my MSc. internship at the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma Research, I investigated the role of allergen-specific B cells in eosinophilic esophagitis. This experience sparked my interest in the role of B cells in disease and guided me towards my current position as a PhD candidate in the Aging and Immunity group of Amanda Foks at the division of Biotherapeutics. My research focuses on understanding how aging impacts the immune system, particularly how it alters the B cell repertoire and its role in the development of atherosclerosis. As a part of the Leducq International Network CHECKPOINT ATHERO, my work contributes to exploring immune checkpoint-based immunotherapeutic targets and drugs in the context of atherosclerosis. Through my research, I hope to advance our understanding of the aging immune landscape and its impact on atherosclerosis, paving the way for novel therapeutic strategies targeting B cell immunity.
