Song Tan is a PhD candidate at the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society. He works on adaptations of classical works in the Middle Ages.

Research
Song's PhD thesis focuses on the representation of the classical world in Bede's and Alcuin's works and the Old English adaptation of Orosius's Historiae. In particular, he examines how universal history was modified and thus instrumentalised to channel certain political or intellectual preoccupations.
