Shawn Donnelly is a guest lecturer in International Relations at the Institute of Political Science.
Shawn Donnelly is a guest lecturer in International Relations at the Institute of Political Science. His main research interests lie in the field of international political economy and comparative economic policy and strategy.
His past work focuses on the politics of monetary and fiscal policy (with a focus on EMU in Europe), financial market regulation (both European and global) and international economic relations (with a focus on financial stability). His current work examines the intersection of industrial policy, geopolitics, and international political economy.
As well as an appointment at Leiden, Shawn holds an assistant professorship at the University of Twente, and taught previously at the University of Bremen and Koc University in Istanbul. Alongside four books on financial market regulation, bank regulation, and EMU, his articles have appeared in Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of European Integration, Journal of Economic Policy Reform, West European Politics, Review of International Political Economy, Politics and Governance, and West European Politics and New Political Economy. He has also conducted research for the European Parliament on proposed new rules for post-Brexit financial services.
