Short CV
RouJia Feng obtained her Master’s degree in 2020 at Shaanxi Normal University. In November 2020, she started to work as a PhD candidate at Social, Economic and Organizational Psychology department at Leiden University. Her research focuses on the interpersonal effects of expressing congruent and incongruent emotional reactions toward the (mis-) fortunes of others.
Research
In the proposed project, she examines the effects of expressing congruent and incongruent emotional reactions on interpersonal relations. More specifically, she tests whether an observer evaluates, and interacts with, another person more negatively when this other person shows an incongruent, counter-empathic emotional reaction toward the lot of a third person (pleasure toward a misfortune or pain toward a good fortune), as compared to a congruent, empathic emotional reaction (pain toward a misfortune or pleasure toward a good fortune). Moreover, she also examines the role of the severity of the good fortunes or misfortunes, the gender of the actors involved, and the existing relations of the observer with the third person of the expressed emotional reactions.
Grant
RouJia Feng is supported by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to do her PhD research at Leiden University.
