Ronny Boogaart is a University Lecturer at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics.
Research
I study the grammar of Dutch. My main interests are tense, aspect, modality and the expression of emotion in grammatical constructions. I am involved in the update of the standard reference grammar of Dutch, the Algemene Nederlands Spraakkunst (ANS).
Another research interest is the distinction between semantics and pragmatics and the way in which people use, or abuse, this distinction in discussions ("that's not what I meant!")
I am dedicated to popularizing linguistic knowledge about these and other topics.
