Rishuai Chen is a PhD candidate at the African Studies Centre Leiden. He conducts research on African migration to China, and is supervised by Professor Jan-Bart Gewald and Dr. Mayke Kaag. By adopting a digital anthropological approach, he investigates how African merchants perceive their relationships with information and communication technologies (ICTs), with a particular focus on the role of everyday practices of ICTs in complexifying migratory experiences and dynamic connections.
