Qianqian Xie is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University in the Netherlands. Her PhD research focuses on how research addresses social problems, especially in health.
Qianqian received a BSc in information management and information systems from University of Jinan, China in 2015 and an MSc in Management Science and Engineering from Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), China in 2019. Also, Qianqian was a research assistant at the School of Economics and Management of BJUT from 2017 to 2019, during which she published various papers and also obtained a software copyright. Her papers are mainly about identifying and forecasting development trends of emerging technologies based on multi-resource data (e.g., scientific papers, patents, web news, Twitter) using text mining methods (e.g., topic modeling, HDP model, NLP methods) and sentiment analysis (lexicon-based sentiment analysis methods). Qianqian joined CWTS in 2020 after being awarded a CSC scholarship from the China Scholarship Council for pursuing a PhD.
