Brief CV
Olaf Simonse graduated in econometrics at Tilburg University. Subsequently, he worked for 25 years in the corporate sector and with the government as project and program manager. In the last 15 years, his focus has been on projects related to poverty, debts, and financial skills. In 2020, he started as an external PhD candidate in the Social, Economic, and Organisational Psychology unit of the Institute of Psychology. In 2022, he began working as a researcher and advisor at the Knowledge Centre for Psychology and Economic Behaviour (KCPEG).
Research
In his research, Olaf focuses on the causes and consequences of financial stress and financial vulnerability. He also investigates the factors that hinder people from using social security and how the accessibility of the social security system can be improved.
Education and training
Since 2022, Olaf has been Lab Leader for the Leiden Leadership Program. From the Knowledge Centre for Psychology and Economic Behaviour (KCPEG), he provides various training sessions and workshops on behavioral insights for professionals.
