Mohammadi's primary research interest centers on the notion of affordances and its application in architectural design and evaluation. As part of the Focus on Emotion lab, he investigates inclusive school environments—both socially and physically—for all youth. 

Employing an affordance-based approach, his research aims to enhance our understanding of the relationship between the abilities, needs, and capacities of (autistic) youth and their environments, providing new insights to inform inclusive design practices.

Mohsen Mohammadi holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from the Art University of Isfahan, Iran, and has completed a two-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship at Delft University of Technology.
