Marcus Ming Fricke is an Industrial PhD researcher at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML) on "Regenerative Built Environment Design through Ecosystem Services Provision" in collaboration with Henning Larsen Architects and supported by the Innovation Fund Denmark.

Professional Experience
Marcus Ming Fricke worked with European city administrations and graduated with honours from the first Norman Foster Institute Programme on Sustainable Cities. He holds a Master of Science degree with distinction from the Technical University of Munich in ‘Resource Efficient & Sustainable Building’ and is lead author of ‘Ecosystem Services guiding Built Environment Design’ in the Springer Nature Sustainable Development Goals Series. He is an alumni of the Oskar von Miller Forum, an independent education initiative of the Bavarian construction industry, and former sustainability consultant at ARUP. In 2020, he co-founded the German Collaborative which represented the Living Building Challenge (LBC) that is recognized as the world’s most rigorous performance based green building standard. He was the German Ambassador and is one of the first Living Future Accredited professionals (LFA) in Germany.
Research topic
The project develops the quantified integration of the ecosystem services concept into the built environment design process, together with the presentation of applied case studies. The overall objective is to realize regeneration potentials within built environment developments by consciously designing and systematically providing ecosystem services.
