Martha started as a postdoc at CML in March 2020 and is working on modelling the risk of vector-borne diseases.
Professional experience
Martha received her BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick in 2007 and her MSc in Applied Meteorology & Climatology from the University of Birmingham in 2010. In 2020 she finished her PhD on modelling the effects of climate change on European grasslands at the University of Edinburgh. She has also worked with several NGOs on improving the sustainability of food supply chains.
Research topic
Martha is working as part of the One Health PACT project to model the risk of vector-borne diseases in the Netherlands under different future scenarios. This includes looking at likely changes in climate, land use, agriculture, water management and importation and how these changes affect both mosquito populations and the possibility of disease transmission.
