Marja Verstelle currently is working as quarter maker at the strategic alliance Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities (LDE), exploring joint educational innovations, and stimulating joint education on the topics of a sustainable, inclusive, digital and healthy society. Before, she held the position of Program Manager of the ICTO Innovation Program of the university. She worked from the Centre for Innovation and combined this role with that of Strategic Policy Advisor for the vice-rector at the Strategy and Academic Affairs directorate. With this dual role she fulfilled a bridge between innovation, strategy and university policy.

Marja Verstelle is first contact for new project ideas. She has been working for over 25 years in the field of learning and new media, innovation of learning and culture change. She has held various positions in education and the private sector, from educational advisor to strategic policy advisor, from manager to trainer, project and program leader.

Currently Marja Verstelle is working as quarter maker at the strategic alliance Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Universities (LDE), exploring joint educational innovations, and stimulating joint education on the topics of a sustainable, inclusive, digital and healthy society.

Before, she held the position of Program Manager of the ICTO Innovation Program of the university. She worked from the Centre for Innovation and combined this role with that of Strategic Policy Advisor for the vice-rector at the Strategy and Academic Affairs directorate. With this dual role she fulfilled a bridge between innovation, strategy and university policy.

In her work, she collaborates with university and faculty administrators to lecturers and students. Together with them she sets up innovative educational projects and researches their strategic impact on education: with the 'Best of Both Worlds' approach that makes use of the best of both online and offline possibilities. She introduced many innovations to the university, such as the digital learning environment, social media for learning, AR/VR, and MOOCs and online learning for credits.

Before she became program manager, she fulfilled the role of editor-in-chief of SURFspace.nl, the national portal on innovation with ICT in education. Marja Verstelle regularly gives presentations at national and international specialist conferences.
