Short CV
Marc Molendijk (1974) completed his Bachelor's degree in 2006 and finsihed his Research and a Clinical Psychology Master in 2008. After that he was a PhD student at Leiden University. Under the guidance of Bernet Elzinga, Brenda Penninx and Philip Spinhoven he studied the neurobiology of depression and he did so by focusing (mainly) on the role of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF ) protein levels and BDNF genotype. In June 2014 he received his PhD ( cum laude). After his promotion, he has spent a year as visiting scholar at the University of Navarra (Spain) where he started studying the association between dietary habits and mental health.
