Manon is an assistant professor at the unit of Cognitive Psychology, where she studies the interaction between emotion and cognition.
Research
Currently, she is working with Dr. Mario Severo to augment attentional bias modification (ABM) training in anxiety disorders by applying neuromodulation and psychophysiological techniques. She also teaches and coordinates Introduction to Psychology and Cognitive Psychology in the BSc and Cognitive Psychology: The Influence of Emotion on Cognition at LUC.
Short CV
Mulckhuyse obtained her PhD in Cognitive Psychology in 2009 at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. During her PhD, she worked on the interaction between bottom-up and top-down driven visual and attentional selection under the supervision of prof. Jan Theeuwes.
After having completed her PhD, she expanded her line of research towards the role of emotion in attention and perception. She obtained a Rubicon grant to work with prof. Geert Crombez at Ghent University. At the end of this period, she received a VENI grant to study the neural processes underlying emotional modulation of visual spatial attention. She conducted this research at the EPAN lab of prof. Karin Roelofs at the Donders Institute in Nijmegen. Since 2017, she has been teaching and supervising students at the Radboud University, University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
