Maarten has been an attorney-at-law since 1995. He is an experienced corporate lawyer, a creative thinker and advisor. He joined his firm WLP-Law in 2013. He advises and litigates, has broad expertise in the field of commercial contracting and corporate law. Maarten is also a non-executive director at 'Portwise' (Rijswijk) since 2022. He has extensive experience in M&A, shareholder disputes, directors' liability cases and corporate / commercial litigation.

He teaches in the master's programme in Corporate Law (topics include 'Mergers & Acquisitions', 'Privatissimum F&O'), he is Coordinator for Internships in the master's, and he supervises students in writing their master's and/or bachelor's theses. He was also involved in the 'Legal Business Game' (2022). He has published several articles and is co-author and editor of the handbook 'Bedrijfsovername' (Kluwer, October 2023).

Maarten has been admitted to practise as a lawyer since 1995: in 1995 in St. Maarten, Dutch Antilles, and since 1998 as a lawyer in the Netherlands (Amsterdam).

Education: Master of Laws (J.D.), Leiden University, the Netherlands, 1993. Post doc: Mergers & Acquisitions, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2002). Maarten is a member of the Dutch Bar Association, the International Bar Association (IBA), the Corporate Litigation Association (VCL) and the Commercial Law Association. Maarten speaks fluent English and reasonable Italian.
