Supervisors
General
During her master period she was an intern at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement (NSCR). At this institute she also wrote her master thesis on the influence of having a job on delinquent behaviour.
Research
Since September 2012, she is working as coordinator for the Prison Project, a large scale research project on intended and unintended consequences of imprisonment. In addition, since September 2013, she is also working as a PhD-candidate at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology. Her doctoral thesis concerns the effects of imprisonment on living situations. This research is part of the research program Criminal Justice: Legitimacy, Accountability and Effectivity.
Education
During the academic year 2015-2016 Maaike teaches Bachelor-1 course Introduction to Sociology and guides several students in writing their bachelor and master thesis.
