Liselotte Rambonnet is a PhD student at the Institute of Biology in Leiden and conducts research on citizens collecting data about plastic pollution and animal rescue centers. She is interested in the motivation of volunteers to collect data and what their impact is, not only on themselves but also for society, science and policy. In addition to this research, she is fighting plastic pollution herself, for example with the initiative Canal Cups against disposable plastic cups. She also coordinates the Plastic Spotter citizen science project in which she studies the plastic in the canals of Leiden together with volunteers. With the initiative Canal Cups she ended on place 27 in the Trouw Sustainable Top 100 and because of her commitment to science and citizen science she has been elected as one of the Sustainable Young 100.
