Research
My PhD research is part of the project ‘Libraries as Links in Learning: Making the Meaning of Manuscripts’, which investigates the role of libraries, and Leiden University Library in particular, in the mediation and facilitation of knowledge exchange around medieval manuscripts in the period ca. 1819 to 1939. By investigating the environments and scholarly networks in which manuscripts were studied, I explore the changing meanings of these medieval artefacts in a period of library professionalization and nation building.
