More information about Laura Bakola
Laura Bakola holds an LL.B. (2020, valedictorian) from Democritus University of Thrace and an LL.M. in 'European Law: Law and Technology in Europe' (2022, cum laude) from Utrecht University. She has worked as a Trainee Lawyer in the National Bank of Greece and was admitted to the Athens Bar Association as an Attorney-at-Law in January 2022.
She is a PhD Candidate in European Private Law at the Institute of Private Law, department of Civil Law. Her research interests pertain to Consumer Law and platform regulation and liability. She also has a strong interest in Civil Law, in particular Contract and Tort Law.
Her research focuses on the 'prosumer' of goods in the platform economy, i.e. a natural person moving from the demand to the supply side of the market and becoming a seller of goods on online platforms. This research is part of the Vici project 'These Shoes Don't Fit! – How can consumer interests be protected when consumer identities are increasingly diffuse?' named 'ConsumerID'. The project is led by Prof. Vanessa Mak and aims to challenge the 'one-size-fits-all' model of consumer laws. For more information about 'ConsumerID', blog posts and updates on the project, see https://consumerid.eu/.
