Konstantinos Zoumpoulakis works as a PhD candidate at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology since 2017.
Konstantinos Zoumpoulakis works as a PhD candidate at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology since 2017. His research focuses on the harmonization of criminal norms in the EU, with a particular interest in the use of minimum rules in substantive and procedural criminal law. His doctoral thesis, entitled 'Harmonization of Criminal Law in the EU: The meaning of minimum rules', is supervised by Professor Jannemieke Ouwerkerk and Assistant Professor Judit Altena.
Konstantinos studied law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), while he did part of his studies at Université Jean Moulin - Lyon III in France. He holds an LL.M. in Philosophy of Law (summa cum laude) from the University of Athens and an MSc in Crime and Criminal Justice from Leiden University. He is a lawyer, admitted to the Athens Bar Association. Before starting his PhD, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute. Currently, he is a teaching assistant, involved in the teaching of the Comparative Criminal Justice Master’s programme.
