Research
My PhD-research focuses on the relationship between the human and non-human world in ancient Greek literary epigram, written approximately between 60 BCE and 50 CE. It particularly looks at how these texts present and construct the relationship between the rising Roman empire and several natural features, like landscape, animals, and trees.
My project is part of the OIKOS Anchoring Innovation research agenda (supervisors: Prof. dr. C.C. de Jonge, prof. d.r. I. Sluiter). For more information about the project, please visit: https://anchoringinnovation.nl/projects/the-natural-rise-of-an-empire.
