Josette Daemen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Political Science in Leiden.
Josette Daemen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Political Science in Leiden. As a political philosopher she has a special interest in the role and significance of values in politics. She earned her PhD title in Leiden with a dissertation about the concept and value of security, in which she analysed how security relates to a number of core values for liberal democratic societies: well-being, freedom, and equality. Previously Josette studied political theory at the University of Oxford (where she obtained an MPhil title with a thesis about basic income from a luck egalitarian perspective) and political science at Leiden University (MSc and BSc, both cum laude).
