My academic career started in 2017 with the integrated masters in Biological Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, where I discovered my interest for the engineering of the drug discovery process. While studying for my BSc, I carried out am internship at Centro de Química Estrutural supervised by Prof. Fernanda on the design and synthesis of novel camphor-derived organometallic complexes for antimicrobial surfaces. During my MSc, I had the opportunity to integrate the Vision to Action Lab at Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown where I was supervised by Dr. Michael Orger on the development of a behavioural high-throughput neurodrug screening platform. I got also the opportunity to join the Chemical Biology Lab at the iMed Institute under the supervision of Prof. Pedro Gois, working on the development of novel cysteine bioconjugation. My MSc thesis was carried out at the LACDR under the supervision of Dr. Sebastian Pomplun on the development of a combinatorial platform for the rapid discovery of covalent peptidomimetic biotherapeutics. In the beginning of 2023, I started my PhD at the Pomplun Lab where I will continue to develop combinatorial platforms for the rapid discovery of various new chemical modalities to address undruggable targets.
